Take Back Our Mountains non-profitBark-stripping and snare patrols
Tracking illegal bark stripping in Newlands Forest and removing snares from the wetlands.

Bark stripping is a serious threat to our indigenous forests, especially in Newlands Forest and on Table Mountain, where many trees have been ring-barked. Protea and herb picking is common too, and snares are set in the wetlands of the central and southern sections of the park.
Take Back Our Mountains volunteers regularly track bark strippers and remove snares. Night-vision and heat-detection equipment would make these patrols far more effective, and donations towards it are very welcome.
