Chapman’s Peak is a quieter, more scenic hike than some of Cape Town’s busier trails. The most popular route starts near the end of Chapman’s Peak Drive and climbs gradually along the mountain’s slopes before a steeper push to the summit.
The hike is roughly 5 to 6 km return and usually takes 2 to 3 hours. It is moderate, with gentle paths and some rocky, steeper sections near the top, and rewards you with huge views over Hout Bay, Noordhoek and the Atlantic.
The peak is named after John Chapman, the skipper of an English ship that anchored in Hout Bay in 1607. Chapman’s Peak Drive, built in the early 1900s, opened up this dramatic stretch of coast. The trails stay more rugged and less commercialised than routes like Platteklip Gorge.

All rates include your guide, entry and ticket fees, and transport. Pick-ups 35 to 60 km from your hotel cost an extra R1 000. All rates are per person.

How does the price work?
The price is per person and drops as your group gets bigger: R3 500 for one person, down to R1 800 each for a group of 8.
What is included?

Is it a private hike?
Yes. It is just your group, with a hike leader and a sweeper, walking at the pace of the slowest person.
Do I pay a deposit?
For bookings more than 30 days ahead, a 15% non-refundable deposit secures your date, with the balance due 48 hours before. Bookings within 30 days are paid in full when you book.
What if the weather turns?
Safety comes first, so we may change the route or timing. If we cancel because of the weather, you get a full refund.
