Private chauffeur tour from Cape TownMossel Bay
Mossel Bay is about 390 km from Cape Town, at the start of the Garden Route. Visit the Dias Museum, with its full-size replica of a Portuguese caravel, post a letter at the Post Office Tree, and walk out to the Cape St Blaize lighthouse and cave for the views along the coast. It is a long drive, so many guests stay overnight or carry on along the Garden Route.
In 1488 the Portuguese explorer Bartolomeu Dias landed here, the first Europeans known to set foot on South African soil. Sailors later left letters for passing ships in a milkwood tree, now called the Post Office Tree.
